What is SessionBand?

SessionBand is the award-winning music app for iPad and iPhone which lets you create pro-quality music in minutes… wherever you are and whatever your level of ability.

There are currently 15 SessionBand apps including the latest edition – the Chris Standring Soul, Jazz & Funk SessionBand – which is the first in a special series of ‘artist’ editions of the app.

SessionBand apps are the world’s only chord-based, audio loop apps. They enable users to create high-quality, real audio, full backing tracks – to their own chords – in minutes.

How do SessionBand apps work?

Essentially, SessionBand is a sophisticated audio loop player which allows users to instantly create tracks from the thousands of chord-based loops included in each app download. Each audio loop has been precision edited so that it seamlessly loops at any 1-beat length. Critically, SessionBand content consists of complete sets of chord-based loops – expertly played by top name musicians.

By selecting chord-based loops in their 2-bar default form, users simply stretch or shrink them as they wish to very quickly build up great-sounding complete music tracks to their own chord sequences. The new ‘Track Builder‘ function makes it possible to build a complete and full-sounding 4-minute track in just a few minutes!

SessionBand apps are structured in such a way that once you have created a track in one style, you can instantly hear the same track in most (if not all) the other styles in that genre. Furthermore, a transpose feature means users can instantly change the key of their track to any other key.

The onboard mixer offers users automated mixing while there are a range of export functions to easily share compositions via email or export content to other apps.

Who uses SessionBand apps?

Instrumentalists and vocalists use SessionBand as a play-along device (especially the Jazz series) to instantly create real audio backing tracks to their own chord sequences to play or practice with. The transpose feature means the whole track can be instantly transposed to any other key and users can change the style of their track to most (if not all) the other styles included in the app with just one touch.

Songwriters use SessionBand apps to quickly create high quality backing tracks for their songs. A range of export functions means that songwriters can easily export their tracks to other apps (GarageBand, Music Studio…) for further work.

Producers use SessionBand apps for access to high quality, chord-based loops which they can embed in their music.
